According to the approved legislation, there are 12 confirmed official holidays for 2025. However, if Ramadan lasts 30 days, it will include a fourth Eid-ul-Fitr holiday, bringing the total number of public holidays in 2025 to 13.

- According to the resolution, if a public holiday falls on a weekend, the Cabinet may decide to move it to the start or end of the week. However, this rule does not apply to Eid Al Fitr or Eid Al Adha.

They also have the authority to approve extra holidays that are not specified by the national cabinet. However, a public holiday cannot be moved or rescheduled if it coincides with another public holiday or a weekend.

Eid Al-Adha – 2025
Eid Al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant holidays for Muslims all over the world. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son Ismail (AS) as an act of obedience to Allah’s (SWT) command. However, Allah SWT intervened and provided a ram to be sacrificed in Ismail’s (AS) place.
Eid Al-Adha is celebrated by Muslims with prayers, feasts, and the act of Qurbani (sacrifice), where an animal (goats, sheeps, cattles, buffalos, or camels) is slaughtered and its meat is shared with the less fortunate, neighbors, and family members. It is also the culmination of the Hajj pilgrimage, one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
